From time immemorial, racism has been in existence. Racism is hatred that is directed to a person because of his culture, skin color, language, and place of birth, or such other characteristic that would define that person’s basic nature. The one who expresses this hatred believes that the other person does not measure up to the standards of what he/she has defined as a ‘human being’.
Racism in history
Throughout history, racism has been an underlying factor in slavery, wars, legal codes and the creation of nations. Those who practice it believe that people from different races should not mix;they should live away from each other. The most notable form of racism throughout history is perhaps that by Westerners towards non-Westerners, which resulted in the enslavement of many Africans.
